There are many free blog sites out there, and I even already have one at Blogger and FS. So why I bother to create my own blog site here using WordPress?
Well, for one thing, I have full control in this domain. 
Adding plugins and changing themes is within my control. But the second reason is that I can learn how these nitty-gritty css and php works together. Using Drupal and Joomla may be able to give you those too, but since this is only for blogging purpose, I tend to stick with the name that a lot of people uses for blog sites, and that is WordPress.
Somehow the initial WP reminds me of WordPerfect, the old long-gone word processor that I used during high-school and even during the beginning of my college years.
